Asian Games 2018, Indonesia: Arpinder Singh won India’s first gold medal in men’s triple jump in 48 years
Arpinder Singh won India’s first men’s triple jump gold in 48 years and 10th gold medal in Asian Games 2018 with a jump of 16.77m at Jakarta on Wednesday.
Arpinder, since winning a bronze medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, jumped of 16.77m in his third attempt.
Uzbekistan’s Athlete Ruslan Kurbanov won the silver medal with a jump of 16.62m.
The Chinese Athlete Shuo Cao won a Bronze medal with a jump of 16.56m.
The best record of Arpinder was a jump of 17.09m during the National Inter-State Championships in the month of June, and which make him the number 3 Athlete in Asia.
The personal best of Arpinder is 17.17m. Also, He had secured the 5th position in the Asian Games 2014.
The last gold medal in men’s triple jump in Asian games was in 1970 from Mohinder Singh Gill.
Now Arpinder became the 10th gold medalist in the Asian games 2018 in Indonesia after winning the gold medal in men’s triple jump.
Arpinder has many titles and also presented India in RIO Olympics where he missed the medals.
The first international medal he won in commonwealth games 2014 in Glasgow secured with bronze.
