Asia Cup 2018: Excited Rohit Sharma’s India ‘Looking Forward to Pakistan Clash’
Team India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma spoke to the media on Friday with the captains from other participating countries – Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong – prior to the Asia Cup 2018 in the United Arab Emirates. It is 12 years since India last played in the UAE and Rohit Sharma said his unit is very excited to be back and ready for the challenges ahead.
“We are very happy to be back here because we played some good cricket balls and I hope this is a great learning moment for the World Cup,” said Rohit Sharma during the press conference.
India will be faced with arch-rival Pakistan after a 15-month opening when asked about the long-awaited clash on September 19, Rohit said his team is very excited about Pakistan after the ICC Champions Trophy final in June 2017. “I am everyone Looks forward, but we will only concentrate on the match that is available.
“It’s always exciting to play Pakistan, they’ve been great lately and have played very good cricket,” he added.
Asked what the defending champions are among the favorites to win the tournament, Rohit said that every team will have to compete because it will not be easy for everyone because all teams will try to put their best foot forward.
“Every team looks at the title and each team has its own strengths, it becomes a competitive tournament,” Rohit said.
“The first time I do a full tour, I am very excited,” he added.
Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed said it was a great opportunity for all participating teams and everyone will try to do their best to entertain the fans.
The edition of the Asia Cup 2018 will start with a clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Saturday.
India, which is placed in Group A, will play their first match against Hong Kong on September 18 before landing in Pakistan the next day.
