Asian Games 2018: Indian rower Dushyant Chauhan wins a bronze medal in men’s lightweight single sculls
Good news came in from the sport of rowing on Friday as India’s Dushyant Chauhan bagged the bronze in the Men’s Lightweight Single Sculls at the Jakabaring Rowing and Canoeing center in Jakarta.
Dushyant Chauhan finished 3rd with a time of 7:18.76 to clinch the first medal for India on Day 6. This is also the first medal for the country in rowing at the Games.
Korea’s Hyunsu Park won the gold with a time of 7:12.86. while Hong Kong’s Chun Gun Chiu pipped Dushyant Chauhan in the final 500m to clinch the silver medal.
Dushyant Chauhan was placed 2nd in the first 500m and 1000m but cleave behind in the final leg of the race but however, made India proud by winning a medal in one of the stiff sports in the world.
This is Dushyant Chauhan best performance in the game for the country.
Chauhan previous international medals for India were the silver and a bronze in Italian Regatta Championships in 2014.
India now has 19 medals in total – 4 gold medal, 4 silver medal, 11 bronze medal – and is placed 10th on the medals tally. India had added 3 medals on day 5.
