Ramakant Achrekar, coach of sachin Tendulkar, passes away
Ramakant Achrekar, the cricket coach of Sachin Tendulkar, died on Wednesday.
Ramakant Achrekar was 87 and, according to a family , had been battling old age-related ailments for the past few weeks.
His kin Rashmi Dalvi said,”He (Archrekar Sir) is no more with us. He passed away this evening,”
The great coach Ramakant competed in just one first-class match in his playing career but the biggest batsman in international cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar,student of Ramaknat owns almost all the batting records including the highest runs in Tests (15,921) and ODIs 18,426).
Achrekar is best known for being Sachin’s childhood coach.
Tendulkar and Vinod kambli was coached by Achrekar at the Shivaji Park, in Mumbai.
Ramakant Achrekar was awarded Padmashri in 2010.
Besides Sachin,Achrekar also coached some prominent players – Vinod Kambli, Pravin Amre, Sameer Dighe and Balwinder Singh Sandhu.
